Andi's 5 Month Update

I know I skipped month 4, but not too much has changed since her last update :)
As you can see in the picture, Andi had a sty(e). This annoying thing lasted 3-4 weeks! It has just recently started clearing up after draining on its own. I'm just glad that it didn't bother or hurt her.

Andi is still nursing and just recently we started her on cereal. She makes the funniest faces when she tastes it- almost as if I were giving her a lemon to lick! She has also been getting better at drinking from a bottle, which she only gets when Ruben & I are gone. I'll be happy when she starts eating more solid foods that way I can leave the house for more than 2 hours without having to worry so much.

She isn't quite sitting up on her own yet, but she can go a while before she topples over. She is now able to hold on to her toys so she LOVES putting everything into her mouth. She is still waking up at night- about 2-3 times. She is in size 3 diapers now and wears 6-9 month clothing. The last time I weighed her (with me) she was almost 30 lbs, so I'm pretty sure she passed that up sometime this month. She's so chubby! :P

Riley & Andi especially have been bonding a lot and it's super cute to see... Andi loves seeing Riley!

Well, I guess that's all that's been going on with our little babe. Lots of exciting things coming up for us all! :)

Til next time,

Family Updates: Andi- 3 Months Old

Well, I guess technically she's almost 4 months old :P Our baby girl is getting so BIG! And extra chubby ;) I can't believe she's almost half of a year old!!
Andi's last Dr. visit was on February 18th for a well-check; she weighed in at 14 lbs. 7 oz.! She's gaining weight like crazy! She is still exclusively breast feeding so it's interesting to see how different her weight gaining has been from Riley's (I breastfed Riley for 3 months, but we also gave her formula).

Andi already has her own little personality- she loves to be held in a sitting up position but she also loves to lay down and play with her feet! She has recently been chewing on her toes (gross, but so funny!) along with chewing on her blanket, her elephant teether and her Sophie giraffe! Her most recent accomplishment has been rolling over! She doesn't do it often, but when she feels like it, she certainly isn't afraid to. She loves to cuddle and she loves to talk to everyone!

She still wake up a few times during the night to nurse. I usually just bring her into bed with us, feed her, and then put her back into her bed when she's done/fallen asleep. I wish I could cuddle with her all night, but Riley will still climb into bed with us in the middle of the night so I don't want her to get smushed :P

I can't wait until she gets older so I can watch her and Riley play and enjoy the same things together. Having a sister is awesome :)

November & Andi's 1st Month!

Andi is already 1 month old! Seriously, where does the time go?!

The first couple of weeks were spent adjusting to life with our new little babe. The only time we went out with Andi was to see the Dr. every few days to keep an eye on her jaundice. If some of you remember, Riley also had jaundice when she was born but she needed to stay in the hospital an extra day and a half for photo therapy. We're really glad Andi didn't also have to go through that.

Andi's first real outing was for Thanksgiving! We went to my grandparents house (Guerra grandparents) first and spent time with my mom and mom's side of the family and ate, then we went to Ruben's grandpa's house (Grandpa Villa) and hung out there and ate some more, and the last place we went was to see Ruben's dad's side of the family. Everyone loved seeing Andi and Riley and we were happy that we got out of the house for a little while.

Things are definitely different with two babies now instead of just one. It makes going out and doing things a lot more difficult and can be super time consuming... but what's life without a challenge!? Hahaha. It'll be a lot of fun seeing Riley and Andi grow up together, they'll be best friends forever!

Riley went to her 1st concert the weekend after Thanksgiving. She went with Ruben's mom to see the Fresh Beat Band LIVE! This was her birthday present that she had to wait 3 months for, but from what I heard she LOVED it... and that may be an understatement. I wish I could've been there with her, and I could've, but with breastfeeding and all I just chose to stay home with Andi. I'm sure we'll take her to something like that again in the future anyways :)

She's Here! Andi *Update*

I'm sure you've all been dying for an Andi update, right? :P

Andi's Birth
On November 6, 2012 I was admitted into Los Alamitos Medical Center at 7:30am. I was scheduled for an induction because Andi just didn't want to come out on her own! I was a week and 5 days past due, the nurses said most doctors induce earlier than that- I was okay with waiting a little bit longer. They started me on Pitocin around 9am and checked on me regularly to see how I was progressing. By 6pm I had only dilated 3-4cm so my Dr. decided to shut off the Pitocin for the rest of the night and start it back up again the next morning at 7. I'll admit, I was pretty irritated that the process was going so slow and that I would have to stay another night. I already missed Riley who was home sick and I was worried that the induction wouldn't be successful. I was, however, really happy to finally be able to EAT! We started the process all over again the next morning, after about an hour or two I decided to get an epidural...Sitting through ongoing contractions for over 24 hours can do that to you! I tried resting as much as I could after that. Ruben went home to shower and see Riley and then came back, my mom and Ruben's mom came back in the morning and waited with us. Around 230ish I started getting an urge to go to the bathroom (#2), I told my nurse and she said that it must be almost time, but when she checked me I was only 6cm dilated. My Dr. came soon after that and checked me again, and broke my water doing so! And just like that, I was ready to push. How it happened so fast, I have NO idea. But within 30 minutes of pushing, she was finally out!

Our Hospital Stay
The labor & delivery department was really busy the night I had Andi, so Ruben wasn't able to stay with us because I was going to be rooming with another mom. I felt better after this delivery than I did with Riley, so I was able to walk around a few hours after and even shower before I switched rooms. Andi was such a quiet, peaceful baby that night. I actually had to wake her up to eat! The next day, Ruben came back in the afternoon with Riley so they could visit and he could stay with us for the night. Riley went home with her Gigi for the night until we got discharged the next day. All the nurses were really sweet and helpful, it was definitely a different stay than the one I had at LB Memorial. Overall, I enjoyed everything a lot better at Los Al than I did at LB Memorial. Maybe because LB Memorial is just WAY too big.
 Bringing Home Andi
I was discharged from the hospital on Friday, 11/9/12. I was so happy to be going home to my own bed and most of all, to Riley! The first couple nights were an adjustment for all of us, Riley was unsure about her new sister at first but now she LOVES her and always wants to hold her or talk to her. For the most part, Andi is a good eater and sleeper- she wakes up twice in the middle of the night and early in the morning around 730. For now, during the day I usually wake her up every 2-3 hours to eat because she (like Riley) has jaundice so it's important for her to pee and poop a lot to clear it out of her system. Hers isn't as bad as Riley's was because she didn't have to stay for photo therapy. It is getting better though! Thank you, Jesus! :)

Thank you to everyone for your support and well wishes! Keep checking back for more updates and pictures! Can't wait for everyone to finally meet her :)
