We've been really behind on our blog posts--with Riley getting older and getting into everything, it's hard to find the free time to sit down and write about everything. Here's what's been going on from Riley turning 9-11 months old...
9 MONTHS OLD
At 9 months old, Riley officially started crawling! It was amazing to see her go from moving her knees a couple times, to just taking off! And that's really how it happened. One day, at Paige's mom's house, Paige caught Riley on video crawling a few times. The next day, Riley was a pro and was taking off everywhere! It was the weirdest thing, almost like she learned over night. But nonetheless, we were really excited for her and her new milestone!
10 MONTHS OLD
At 10 months, Riley grew out of her baby food and only wanted the real stuff! For a couple days we had started to give her strawberries, blueberries, avocado, blackberries and raspberries for snacks and with her meals. I guess she took to the table food too quickly, be
cause the next time we tried to give her one of her baby food dinners, she turned her nose up like it was the worst thing she had ever smelled. This just made it more challenging for us to figure out what her meals would be like from then on, but we were glad that she didn't seem like a picky eater!
Riley also started "pulling herself up" onto things; such as the couches, tables, chairs, and in her play pen. This was when we had to start clearing off things on the tables (or anywhere within her reach) so that she didn't break anything or most importantly, hurt herself. Her favorite things to touch were all the electronic devices in her Papie's entertainment system, she likes pushing all the buttons!
11 MONTHS OLD
Riley's 11 month was spent discovering new things, learning the meaning of some words and figuring out people's names. She, of course, mastered the word "dada" and will even say "dad" or "daddy." She also knows "baba" (bottle), "kiykiy" (kitty kitty), and knows what her "blankie" and "nom nom" (food) are. She'll also say "uh oh" if something falls or if she drops something. She loved looking at her books and "reading" them, and of course, playing with all her toys.
Riley's palette expanded during this month, also. She started to eat eggs, pasta, string cheese, kiwi, nectarines/peaches, chicken, pinto beans, corn, zucchini, turkey, tomatoes, even spinach! She ate almost anything, just in small pieces.
